Environmental Choice is the official environmental label in New Zealand. The ECNZ eco-label offers strong proof of environmental performance. A large range of EC certified products are available in Foodstuffs stores, from toiletry products and paper products through to cleaners and detergents.
Pams Products Limited is committed to the procurement and sale of sustainable canned tuna products.
It is our policy to only source products from fishing suppliers and manufacturing facilities that are committed to long-term conservation and sustainable use of fish stocks, reducing bycatch, promoting ecosystem health and ensuring social accountability.
All Pams Tuna is caught by the sustainable fishing methods of Pole & Line, and purse seine fishing that does not employ fish aggregating devices (FADs).
Only Skipjack Tuna (Katsuwonus pelamis), universally acknowledged as the most abundant of all Tuna species, is used in our canned range.
To assist our customers to make an informed choice we include information on our label that states the catch method, species of fish and the fishing area.
We want to enable customers to make an informed choice. Foodstuffs encourages all suppliers to voluntarily declare the use of palm oil in ingredient labelling. We also encourage suppliers to source palm oil from a sustainable supply.
Foodstuffs Own Brands Ltd, which is responsible for our private label products (Pams, Budget and Value), is a member of the Roundtable of Sustainable Palm Oil (www.rspo.org) and fully endorses the philosophy of the RSPO which is to advance the production, procurement, finance and use of sustainable palm oil products. To belong to the RSPO companies need to commit to the production and use of certified sustainable palm oil – something which Foodstuffs has made a commitment to do across its private label portfolio.
All Pams and Budget food suppliers have provided evidence to indicate that 100% of products in the range with palm oil as an ingredient are using certified sustainably sourced palm oil. Where palm oil is present, Pams and Budget food products are clearly labelled to ensure consumers can make an informed choice.
Pams, Budget, Value and all in-store bakeries use only certified sustainable Palm Oil with all suppliers achieving a minimum of ‘GreenPalm’ certification.
