PAK’nSAVE Porirua team show love and appreciation for fellow essential workers with the gift of baking

The team at PAK’nSAVE Porirua decided to show their appreciation for their fellow essential workers at nearby Kenepuru Hospital by whipping up 200 gourmet muffins for them in their in-house bakery - along with a heart-warming video message of their appreciation of the work they’re doing during Government Alert Level Four.

“We wanted the team at the local hospital to know we appreciate what they’re doing and one way we can show our appreciation is to bake!” says owner operator of PAK’nSAVE Porirua, Garrod Brader.

To accompany their delicious gesture, the PAK’nSAVE Porirua team also made a video message for the team at Kenepuru Hospital, each PAK’nSAVE team member holding a separate piece of paper with a message on it - which read:

"Today we are sending 200 muffins to our local Kenepuru hospital
To all doctors, nurses and hospital teams
We wanted to tell you that we love you
And we appreciate your hard work
We wanted to show you Porirua appreciates you so much
We wanted you to know we are always thinking of you
Kia kaha to you all
I love you for what you are doing…"

Team members from every department of PAK’nSAVE Porirua, from Inwards Goods through to Checkout backed up the message of appreciation and support with the message ‘I do as well’.

“When the nurse from Kenepuru Hospital came in to pick up our gift of muffins, she was moved to tears” says Store Manager Dan Mckissock.

Kiwi’s show their love and support for each other in tough times through our love of baking and this was just one small way our team could show our support and a little kindness, letting our fellow essential workers know we are thinking of them in these tough times.” added Brader. “Our local community continues to support us as we work hard to bring locals access to grocery essentials and we wanted to pay that forward” Brader concluded.
